Bookart 5 - Alternative to line pattern

boekkunst5trees This is just a variation in the pattern use. Actually, we always assume a pattern with lines so you know in advance which part gets a fold. But it can be done without lines.

You do not use a pattern with lines that will be folded. Then you can print that image also stretched and then lay it next to a ruler and use this ruler for distances through the millimeter scale.

You're going shift to book along the ruler over the distance in millimeters. This can, for example always be 5 millimeters or very finely as 1 millimeter at a time. A pattern of 25 centimeter can then be fold for 50 pages if you have 5 millimeters at a time and moves up to 250 pages when you move a millimeter. (But 2, 3 or 4 millimeters can also be done)

The disadvantage of a small part as one millimeter shift is that you can work less accurate.
It is better to stretch over several A4 sheets. So the pattern (image) exists out of many pages, If you use five pages you can get back to the 5 millimeter move what is still more convenient and gives a precise place where you should fold.

But do you want to better align a pattern you can also convert the image into a spreadsheet and print lines as folding places. For this we go to Bookart 6 - Create your own pattern.
